Pall joins SEMATECH’s ISMI to address semiconductor fab contamination control

07/11/2012

July 11, 2012 -- Pall Corporation (NYSE: PLL), filtration, separation and purification technology provider, joined the International SEMATECH Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI) program based at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany. Pall will partner with leading semiconductor makers and suppliers on ISMI’s equipment productivity and factory automation projects to address equipment stability and sustainability challenges as well as next-generation processing issues.

“The increasing complexity of semiconductor devices gives rise to the need for more sophisticated contamination control solutions," said Steve Chisolm, president of Pall Microelectronics.  "Our partnership with ISMI will enable further development of innovative cleaning processes to help semiconductor manufacturers meet their contamination control challenges.”

“Contamination is a key barrier to the industry's ability to develop next-generation microchips. The partnership with Pall adds an important industry supplier perspective that will help enhance manufacturing effectiveness through improved maintenance efficiency and defect reduction," said Richard Young, SEMATECH vice president of Manufacturing Technology. ISMI is working cooperatively with semiconductor manufacturers to develop novel manufacturing capabilities to solve common productivity, cost, and cycle time challenges in semiconductor factories and equipment. ISMI also provides industry leadership in sustainability and green initiatives by addressing regulatory issues and resource conservation in manufacturing operations.
